Lavance Purple English Lavender

Common name:Lavance Purple English Lavender
Botanical name:Lavandula angustifolia 'Lavance Purple'

A smaller, compact lavender well suited to small gardens and parkstrips. Dense foliage is greenish-grey and very aromatic. Deep purple flowers appear early to late summer (deadheading will prolong the bloom period). Foliage may be semi-evergreen in milder winters. Very fragrant flowers are excellent cut for arrangements or dried.

Feather Reed Grass

Common name:Feather Reed Grass
Botanical name:Calamagrostis acutiflora

Feather reed grass is perennial grass that grows 4 to 6 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide. It is ideal in spaces where some vertical interest would be valued. It is very upright, though the grass blades are gently arching. Flower plumes appear mid June and emerge a light green but quickly turn to pinkish purple. The flower is very airy and feathery, hence the name. Flower is looser than 'Karl Foerster.' Plumes are very persistent into the winter months. Slightly less erect than it's popular kin, 'Karl Foerster.'

Amur Chokecherry

Common name:Amur Chokecherry
Botanical name:Prunus maackii

Amur chokecherry is a deciduous ornamental flowering cherry tree that typically grows 20 to 30 feet tall and 18 to 25 feet wide. It is native to Manchuria, Siberia, and Korea. Attractive, exfoliating golden brown to russet bark. Fragrant white flowers in brush-like clusters appear April to May, followed by small, glossy black cherries (1/4” diameter) which ripen in late summer. Fruits are used to make jams, jellies, and juices. Medium green leaves turn yellow in fall, often dropping early.
